A curious imitative Denarius of Caracalla on a very broad flan
Lot 1077
Caracalla, 198-217. Denarius (Subaeratus, 23 mm, 4.42 g, 6 h), plated silver, irregular mint. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG Laureate and draped bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. FELICITAS AVGG Liberalitas (sic!) standing front, head left, holding counting-board in right hand and cornucopiae in left. The reverse somewhat double struck and with minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.

This is a curious imitation: not only does it mix up different types, but it was also struck on an exceptionally broad and heavy flan
